Re: Carol Sander's article Stakes high in bridge battle (Dec. 15).

To the ordinary reader, the article makes Save Our Seine look like they want to destroy the forest with building projects, and stop progress that would affect jobs, families and municipal taxes. SOS does not oppose the whole development of Royalwood Phase II. SOS opposes the proposed bridge at Southglen Boulevard, to be located 500 metres from another proposed bridge crossing at Warde Avenue. SOS supports a bridge at Warde, but not at Southglen, where the forest is graded as "A" Quality Habitat.

Alan Borger, president of Ladco Co., seems to have grown tired of the nuisance SOS has caused him with delaying his lucrative development, and has resorted to using scare tactics and misinformation to convince the public that they want a bridge and not a park. There is much that Mr. Borger does not tell us, including the fact that his proposed bridge will involve redirecting the flow of the river, or that the bridge will fragment the forest, which will result in far more destruction of habitat.

Ms Sander's article is a perfect example of the media being successfully manipulated by a corporate body unwilling to listen to reason, or to consider compromise for the sake of benefiting anyone other than it.
