Save
Our
Seine
is
getting
a
reprieve.
The
group
is
trying
to
raise
$600,000
for
a
park
along
the
Seine
River
in
southeast
Winnipeg.
It
was
given
until
the
end
of
last
year
to
raise
that
money.
That
deadline
has
now
been
extended
to
the
end
of
this
year.
The
80-acre
Bois
Des
Esprits
park
will
be
divided
in
half
by
a
bridge.
The
group
had
hoped
to
stop
the
bridge
from
being
built,
but
was
turned
down
by
a
city
committee.
Spokesman
David
Danyluk
says
it's
not
exactly
what
he
wanted,
but
the
group
hopes
to
protect
as
much
of
the
riverbank
forest
as
possible.
The
city
has
pledged
to
kick
in
$1
million
for
the
park
if
Save
Our
Seine
can
raise
its
share.
