A civic committee is expected to decide Tuesday the fate of
land that once belonged to Louis Riel's father.
Council's community committee has called a special meeting to
decide whether to allow a $10-million senior citizens complex
near the site of Riel's family mill on the Seine River.
Environmentalists and Metis leaders have protested the planned
complex, which is to be built on St. Anne's Road.
At its last meeting, the city committee asked all sides to meet
to work out a compromise.
