Kennedy
Jr.
was
a
guest
speaker
at
a
Liberal
Party
of
Manitoba
Fundraiser.
Mr.
Kennedy
was
invited
to
discuss
the
environment
to
those
attending
an
evening
dinner
at
the
Fairmont
Hotel.
Before
the
event,
Dr.
Gerrard
(MLA
Riverheights
and
Leader
of
the
Provincial
Liberal
Party)
invited
SOS's
Coordinator
to
a
small
meeting
with
Mr.
Kennedy.
Mr.
Kennedy
the
'eco-warrior'
or
'eco
celebrity'
is
an
environmental
lawyer
and
law
professor.
He
has
been
involved
with
the
Hudson
River
Riverkeepers.
This
group
locates
river
polluters
and
successfully
challenges
them
in
court.
He
was
very
concerned
about
Provincial
Policy
regarding
large
hog
operations
in
Manitoba.
Mr.
Kennedy
was
pleased
to
hear
of
Winnipeg's
river
and
stream
stewardship
community.
The
health
of
the
City's
rivers
was
of
great
interest
to
Mr.
Kennedy
-
his
visit
to
Winnipeg
followed
the
huge
sewage
leak
into
the
Red
River!
Mr.
Kennedy
signed
a
copy
of
his
book
Riverkeepers
and
added
an
illustration
of
a
swooping
falcon
beneath
the
words,
"Save
The
Seine!"
SOS
plans
to
donate
the
book
as
a
gift
in
the
future.
SOS
really
appreciated
the
kind
words
and
encouragement
from
such
a
respected,
and
admired
environmentalist!
