October
30,
2002
SOS's
Coordinator
was
invited
to
speak
at
the
Geography
Department's
lunch
lecture
series.
As
an
Alumni
of
the
U
of
W
(for
only
ten
days!)
Dave
was
invited
back
to
discuss
urban-riparian
issues
in
the
city
of
Winnipeg
and
encourage
students
to
study
the
City's
rivers.
These
issues
are
topical
for
nearly
all
disciplines
at
the
University.
As
a
result
SOS
has
decided
to
assist
students
to
learn
more
about
the
Seine
River
by
providing
additional
information
of
the
studies,
articles
and
maps
on
the
new
SOS's
web
site.
The
lecture
discussed
the
origins
of
SOS
as
a
grassroots
community
group
that
act
as
stewards
of
their
neighbourhood
riparian
environment.
The
projects
and
initiatives
were
outlined
that
fulfill
the
goals
and
vision
of
the
SOS.
Donuts
and
juice
were
served!
Dave
was
given
a
U
of
W
mug
and
treated
to
lunch
for
his
participation
in
the
lecture
series.
