SOS
and
the
U
of
W
student
group
Ecological
Males
and
Females
In
Action
(Eco-Mafia)
held
a
bake
sale
Monday
and
Tuesday
between
10:30
and
2:30
p.m.
at
the
University
of
Winnipeg.
Anyone
passing
by
with
a
reusable
mug
was
given
a
free,
hot
mug
of
fair-trade,
organically
grown
(guilt-free)
coffee.
With
a
free
steaming
mug
of
coffee,
who
could
resist
the
baked
treats?
Eco-Mafia
raised
over
$200
from
students
and
faculty
who
supported
the
bake
sale.
The
City
of
Winnipeg
will
double
Eco-Mafia's
donation
for
the
purchase
of
the
Bois
des
Esprits
Forest.
That
means
$400
towards
saving
the
pristine
urban
forest!
At
the
bake
sale
SOS
setup
a
display
panel
to
raise
awareness
of
Seine
River
issues.
The
2
minute
45
sec.
video
of
the
Bois
des
Esprits
forest
by
canoe
was
played
on
a
TV
and
VCR.
Several
professors
inquired
if
SOS
would
be
able
to
speak
at
future
classes
regarding
the
Seine
River
and
the
SOS's
activities.
A
student
who
attended
the
Geography
Department's
Lunch
Lecture
Series
on
October
30th
wrote
a
Feature
on
the
Seine
River
in
the
UWSA
newspaper,
The
Uniter.
Thank
you
Karina
Cardona
Claros
for
raising
awareness
of
Seine
River
and
SOS
projects
and
activities!
SOS
would
like
to
thank
Kate
at
Eco-Mafia
and
all
the
members
who
were
at
the
booth
or
baked
goodies
for
the
successful
event!
SOS
would
also
like
to
thank
Tall
Grass
Prairie
Bakery
for
donating
the
dozens
of
organic
cookies!
Thank
You
Everyone!
