SOS Meets with Provincial Ministers of Water Stewardship and Conservation
Tuesday, March 23, 2004

The Provincial Government has created a new Department of Water Stewardship (first in Canada!) This new Ministry combines several existing government programs that deal with our province's water resources. Save Our Seine was invited to discuss these changes with the Ministers responsible for Conservation and Water Stewardship.

The meetings were a wonderful opportunity to share SOS's accomplishments and current challenges to the new Minister of Conservation, the Honourable Stan Struthers.

The Honourable Minister Steve Ashton (long time friend of SOS) shared his exciting new challenges forming a new Ministry and welcomed input from SOS.

Topics discussed covered the Red River Floodway Expansion Project and its effects on the Seine River Environment. Water Quality monitoring along the Seine River was also discussed and plans will commence on designing a water quality program with the Province as a partner.
