InSeine Art
Fast Facts
Objective: To garner a connection to nature through art
Years Active: 2018 - Ongoing
InSeine Art, a project aimed at developing awareness and appreciation of the Seine through art, began in 2018, with Dakota Collegiate students being the first beneficiaries. The inclusion of Indigenous Studies provides a rich cultural context in which the students develop their artistic talents.
Over the life of the project to date, some 70 students have been introduced to the Seine as a place of art; art installations have been constructed in situ through non-invasive means, then non-invasively obtained materials are taken back to the Collegiate to be used in painting with natural pigments, dyeing with natural dyes, and pyrography.
The image gallery below shows a sample of the creativity put on display during InSeine Art.
